Mallorca: City Hotels and Accommodation
Palma is the capital of Mallorca and is a busy town, lying just 8 km / 5 miles to the west of Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI). A range of accommodation can be found throughout the town, being clustered both in the centre and along the southern coastline. Those looking for budget accommodation in Palma will find around 20 hostels, known locally as 'hostales'. A further 30 mid-range hotels are situated around the city, although rooms can be scarce, often making advance bookings essential before arriving here.
Central Palma de Mallorca is a particularly appealing part of the town and contains a range of attractions, including many noteworthy restaurants and lively Tapas bars. During the high season, many hotels in Palma do not allow single night stays, with some establishments insisting on at least three nights minimum. The town's tourist information centre provides a comprehensive list of the accommodation in Palma if you have not reserved a room prior to your arrival.
Further accommodation on the island of Mallorca can be found in and around the quaint, northern town of Pollenca, which is home to an attractive harbour and close to the stunning Serra de Tramuntana mountain range. Located on the north-western shoreline, Port de Sóller is also worth visiting and contains a number of small hotels and B&Bs, close to the central Placa Constitució.
